Use every available space for storage. Under-the-bed plastic containers, book shelves, lots of “kid easy access” baskets for bits and pieces and clearly labelled so your kids can easily put things away.

When you arrange your kids room, make sure to consider placement of furniture for the best storage options. Place the bookshelf next to the desk or reading area, the toy box or toy storage right next to the play space so everything is close to access and to return.

Every school holiday term, make some time to sort toys and clothes with your kids. Have three bins, bags, or boxes available for sorting. One for clothes that are outgrown, but want to save; sort and label by size. The second bin is for donating or giveaway, its beautiful to teach your kids to donate things they no longer want or need. The third, to throw out, things that are broken and worn out!

Storage in your kids room doesn’t have to be boring. Use bright colours, easy for kids to reach shelves, add themed decals and transfers to convey the theme of the room. Purchase furniture that can “grow” with your kids. With a little bit of effort, your can create an organised and fun space for your kids to enjoy.
